The OMDDMS® Steering Group reviews drafted changes to the Standard and advises OMDDMS Ltd on its direction. Its members come from the groups that create and apply the Standard, so no single interest shapes how OMDDMS® develops.
The Steering Group reviews every drafted change to OMDDMS® before it is approved, and advises on the direction of the Standard between major versions. It does not approve changes; approval of every change rests with the Governing Body. This separation keeps the review of the Standard broad and its approval accountable.
The remit of the Steering Group is set by the Governing Body and is limited to the content and direction of the Standard.
Every change accepted for drafting at the annual review, tested against practice in the sectors its members work in.
Checks that each proposed change is supported by evidence from operating model design and delivery, not by preference.
Advises OMDDMS Ltd on priorities for future versions, including the next major version., OMDDMS® 5.
Approval of every change rests with the Governing Body.
Accreditation of Training Organisations is a decision for the Governing Body.
The Steering Group has no role in the commercial delivery of OMDDMS® training.
Members are drawn from the people who created and apply the Standard. No single interest holds a majority.
Brings the original design intent of the Standard and the method behind it. Holds a standing seat.
Bring the experience of applying OMDDMS® in live operating model design and delivery.
Bring evidence of how the Standard performs in use.
Accredited Training Organisations do not hold a seat on the Steering Group. They review drafted changes separately, for deliverability, as part of the development cycle.
Details of the members can be sourced by writing to dpo@omddms.org
Members are invited and appointed by the Governing Body for a term of three years.
Every member declares their interests to the Governing Body, and these are recorded before each review. A member has a direct interest in a change when it would benefit an organisation they hold a role in over other organisations. A change that affects all Accredited Training Organisations equally is not a direct interest.
Where a member has a direct interest, they may answer factual questions from the Steering group, but take no part in discussion of the change and give no advice on it. The recusal is recorded.
A standard written and reviewed by one organisation reflects one view. The Steering Group puts every change in front of people who apply OMDDMS® in different sectors, roles and countries before it is approved, so changes that reach publication have been tested beyond the organisation that drafted them.
